Maier, Michael. "Journalism without Journalists: Vision or Caricature?" Shorenstein Center Discussion Paper Series 2007.D-40, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, November 2007.Abstract
A paper by Michael Maier, spring 2007 fellow, examines various forms of citizen journalism taking place at traditional media outlets. The paper includes projects by The Los Angeles Times in 2005; a model developed by Bill Kovach, the former Washington bureau chief of The New York Times, that was tested in the newsrooms of the Milwaukee Journal, Minnesota Public Radio, and WHO-TV in Des Moines, Iowa; and “Network Publishing” projects such as Global Voices. Maier concludes that these evolving projects will require time, patience and, possibly, a lowering of expectations.Terms of Use
