In this psychological suspense novel, the grip of a metaphoric octopus takes hold when Ursula, a bright, manipulative child is killed after falling from a cliff while on vacation with her family. Her younger sister, Madeleine, is blamed. Madeleine may be innocent, but at age eight, she unable to defend herself and is left to live with her grandmother. Her only other sibling, Pauline, remains neutral until many years later when she begins to recognize that some of Ursula’s difficult personality traits have resurfaced in her own daughter. Fearful, she begins to ask Madeleine for help in confronting the tight hold of the octopus - their family’s strange behaviors.Terms of Use
