Franzmeier, LaTischa K. 2022. The Tribe, a novel excerpt. Master's thesis, Harvard University Division of Continuing Education.Abstract
The Tribe is a novel following the coming-of-age story of Einfen, a young man born into an ascetic clan of forest-dwelling tree-worshippers. He and his two age-mates, Kit and Dagra, set off on a winter journey north to the Great Dead Lake—a traditional pilgrimage of atonement undertaken by his forebears since the industrial technocracy burned. While Einfen’s tribe is concerned with never repeating the mistakes of the ancestors, the hedonistic prairie nomads live much differently. They abduct Einfen and his friends, claiming altruism. When Einfen meets a young woman, Elah, who is discontented with the frivolous nomadic life-way, they flee and forge their own path.Terms of Use
